Maharashtra Lockdown: What Makes Mumbai The City Worst-hit By Covid-19 In India? | CRUX

Mumbai recorded its highest single-day spike of 11,163 new coronavirus cases on April 4, which pushed the city’s caseload to 4,52,445. The city has once again become the biggest Covid-19 hotspot in the country with daily new cases surpassing previous records. Not just Mumbai, other cities in Maharashtra where coronavirus has again reared its ugly head include Pune, Thane, Nashik and Nagpur.
The Maharashtra government on Sunday announced a weekend lockdown in the state from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday in a bid to curb the growing numbers of Covid-19 cases in the state.
